The use of a beret green beret?
Why are there soldiers in the Special Forces that still use the black beret? When you are Ranger qualified, can you use the Desert Tan Beret? Can someone explain to me when a person can use certain berets and why? That question is for the United States Army.

black beret is for everyone and anyone (sucks that they took it away from the rangers to give to soldiers who have never gone above and beyond though, that was complete BS)
maroon berets are for soldiers in active airborne units. this ranges from units like the 82nd airborne to parts of USASOC (special forces support- the guy who said that non SF members working for SF wear green was wrong-, CA, psyops, SOAR, etc). members of the LRS-D community also wear maroon berets.
tan beret- for rangers who are in regiment only.
green beret- special forces who are either operational or have moved from an operational role to an admin/training/etc role.
a SF soldier who moved to a regular army unit is stuck wearing the black beret. there were several former 18Ds who became PA’s and were teaching at fort sam when i went through.
