daggers clamp the kicking is to no avail
the pack falls as hooves topple
lunge the strike
not quite final in blow
but fatal all the same
as the feeding begins
the mouths fight one and the other
a life drains not quick enough
dimming eyes scream terror
to satisfy the hunger
of the pack
