Do you think we should get rid of chain immigration and the lottery…and focus on educated individuals?
Chain immigration takes up the bulk of American immigration, which is solely based on whether your families here. You can be any age (young or old), and you could have or lack any skills America would benefit from. Mostly we get uneducated individuals, primarily from Latin America.
Lottery is just that…people are awarded citizenship based on luck.
Do you think the above is a rational way to improve America or would it be better if we immigrated Scientists, Doctors, Teachers,…people we consistantly need (no matter the race)? Is there not a better way of approaching legal immigration, so that it improves America, and help fill real needs?
Note: I think we should focus on industries that show desperate REAL needs…not lower-end labor…atleast not to the level we do now.

yes….I am an immigrant living here for 6 years on an H1B but cannot work because only my husband’s job is listed/…I have 2 Bachelors degrees and am currently working on my Masters..but does not fall into any categories… for example teachers, social workers (what I am) cannot get visas, because it is not on the list of qualifying jobs…but I don’t work illegally because it is wrong…I am frustrated but I will wait and play by the rules…
we have applied for a green card…..but that was almost 3 years ago…..so far we haven’t even hit the first stage ..that is how backlogged the system is….
I often wonder how they are going to process these 12 million illegals when they can’t even process the legal ones…..
however , as frustrated as I am I still will say..this is a great country and well worth waiting for
