HPST (High Precision Servo Track) system of Maxell keeps the tracks parallel in LTO tapes to ensure accurate head-tracking. Each tape track of LTO tape is tested by the Maxell during its manufacturing in order to confirm the performance of the tape cartridge. In LTO tape the information is recorded on multiple data tracks. Margin of error in Maxell LTO tape is reduced to 0.2 micrometer along entire tape length because of the Neo-SMART technology. The precision servo system enables highly reliable and simultaneous data recording onto the multiple tracks of Maxell LTO data tapes. A special process is used in Maxell ultrium tape format in which tape is loaded in the drive by a leader pin and then the pin is released after it’s unloading.
