Why didn’t Harry use a time turner in the first four Harry potter books to rescue his parents?
Also, why doesn’t Voldermort use a time turner to kill Harry? I know the time turners were destroyed in the 5th book, but Voldermort regained life in the 4th book!!!
You can only change so much in the past that it doesn’t end up creating a time loop, that you don’t end up causing yourself to die or not to exist. The further you go back, the more everything you do will affect the present. It wouldn’t surprise me if they had a limit built in, perhaps 24 hours or something.
Also the practical matter of having to give it 87600+ turns may’ve put Harry off (that’s only for 10 years, assuming he’d have been able to get a hold of a Time Turner right after finding out he was a wizard… three years later, when Hermione carried hers, you’d have to add another 26280 turns)
Btw, I think it’s strange *all* Time Turners are destroyed; even if their use is tightly controlled, if a school girl can get one… wouldn’t there be at least one or two lent out at any time, among all the wizards & witches in the entire country? Apart from the fact that it happened a year ago now, didn’t they make even a single new one, it doesn’t say that making them was a lost art or something.
